BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT

In order to make our services more efficient, the Consulate General receives applications ONLY by appointment, apart from proven urgent cases. However, not all services require personal attendance as some can be processed by post or by email.

IMPORTANT:

WARNING: It is now indispensable and compulsory to confirm the appointment booked through the online system: the online system will send a confirmation request ten (10) days before the scheduled appointment date, the user must confirm the appointment within three (3) days of the appointment date in order to avoid the automatic cancellation of the appointment which will free the slot for other users.

The aim of the new appointment confirmation system is to reduce the occurrences of cases in which users do not attend the appointment. This new system will facilitate both the cancellation of non-confirmed appointments and the creation of free slots that can be rebooked by other users.

In order to help us provide a satisfactory service, and to allow other users to book an earlier appointment slot, please always cancel any appointments that are no longer required or that you cannot attend.

- PASSPORT APPOINTMENT
If an appointment is required in a close date, or in a date not available at the time of booking (except in case of prooved emergency, see here), we advise to check daily the system for availability. Many users cancel their appointment at the last minute making thus the slot available for other users.

IMPORTANT: your new passport can be renewed up to six months before the expiry date of the old one. Therefore, we suggest to make arrangents for renewal in due time. It is exclusive responsibility of the passport holder to renew it before it expires. Please note urgency procedures are limited to very specific requirements.

- DO I HAVE TO COME IN PERSON TO THE CONSULATE?
Not all services require personal attendance as some can be processed by post or by email, as per the following examples.
We strongly advise you check the relevant page of our website relating to the service required for the procedures to be followed.

- DO ALL THE SERVICES PROVIDED TO APPLICANTS ATTENDING THE CONSULATE IN PERSON REQUIRE AN APPOINTMENT?
No. Not all services require an appointment. Some services can be provided without an appointment simply by attending the Consulate during opening hours.

We strongly advise you check the relevant page of our website relating to the service required for the procedures to be followed.

PLEASE NOTE: the online booking system does not apply to the following sectors:

  • CITIZENSHIP
  • NOTARY SERVICES
  • MARRIAGE BANS

In order to book an appointment please contact by email the relevant office.

We strongly advise you check the relevant page of our website relating to the service required for the procedures to be followed.

HOW CAN I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

To make an appointment for the first time you must register with your details and an email address (this is an essential requirement). You will receive a confirmation email of your registration which will allow you to activate your account and will give you access to the online booking system (NB: if you have a free email account, e.g. Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, etc., the confirmation email may not arrive immediately and may go to your “Junk” or “Spam” folders, so please check them).

Once you have successfully registered, you can access your account by entering your username/password and then clicking on “Login”. You then need to select the office you require. NB: to book an appointment you must click on the office required, NOT on the white envelope which only sends an email to the Consulate.

As the system is automatic and non-manned, you will need to manage your account yourself. Consular officers cannot override the system. Please note that appointment booking times only become available for a short while according to the service required (8 weeks). If there are no dates available (marked in green), but only red or black dates, this does not mean the system is not working. Given the high volume of requests, places fill up quickly.

Therefore if you do not find any available dates in the calendar, you need to wait and try the following day.

You are also advised to check frequently in case further appointments are added or if there are any appointment cancellations.

NB: the appointments system will only function properly if a) personal details are inserted correctly, and b) if due respect is shown for the needs of other people who find themselves in the same situation. In order to help us provide a satisfactory service, please cancel any appointments that are no longer required.

ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

We strongly advise you check the relevant page of our website relating to the service required for the procedures to be followed when you arrive at the Consulate for your appointment (e.g. forms to be filled in, consular fees, etc.).

For security reasons, please do not bring any suitcases, large items, backpacks or pushchairs into the Consulate. The Consulate is not responsible for any items left either inside or outside our building.

Please be aware that all passports for children under 12 can be applied for by post: however, should you prefer to make an appointment for this service, please note that children under 12 do not need to attend the Consulate in person. Likewise, the registration of birth certificates for all children under 18 can be applied for by post: however, should you prefer to make an appointment for this service, please note that children under 18 do not need to attend the Consulate in person.

Payments of consular fees can be made in cash (GBP) or with a postal order. The various consular fees are available on our website under “Consular fees”.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the complexity of the handling passport applications at the counter and the controls involved for each applicant, plus the requirement for Italian nationals to be present for the issue of Emergency Travel Documents, the time slot assigned by the “Prenota Online” system may differ from the actual time in which applicants will be seen at the counter. Whilst encouraging the utmost punctuality at the appointment, we apologise in advance for any delay.
