EU Settlement Scheme – Less than 10 days left to apply

Please find below the latest update from the Home Office for registering with the Settlement and Pre-Settlement scheme:

There are less than 10 days left until the deadline of 30 June 2021 for applications to be made to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS).
Time is running out for all EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and their family members who were resident in the UK by 31 December 2020, to secure their rights in UK law by making an application at www.gov.uk/eusettlementscheme so that they can continue to work, study, and access benefits and free healthcare in the UK after 30 June 2021.
An application must be made for every eligible child within a family. Parents should check if they need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme for their children, even if they have already applied and been granted a status themselves.
If an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen and their family members have lived in the UK for many years or have a permanent residence document or EEA Biometric Residence Card (BRC), they still need to apply to the EUSS by 30 June 2021 to secure their existing rights in the UK.
Irish citizens and those with indefinite leave do not need to apply but may do so if they wish.

Help is available
Support is available seven days a week. If you, or anyone you know, needs help with making an application to EUSS a range of support is available including over-the-phone advice to more tailored one-to-one support. View all the support services HERE.
You can also find details here of how to contact the 72 organisations across the UK that have received Home Office funding to help support EU, EEA and Swiss citizens, and their family members to apply.

After the deadline
There’s still time to apply before the deadline, and all eligible applicants should do so if they can. However, there remains scope, indefinitely, for a person eligible for status under the EUSS to make a late application to the scheme where there are reasonable grounds for not meeting the deadline. Every late application will be considered on its individual merits, and THIS guidance, published on 1 April, provides further details.
Eligible close family members living overseas can apply to join an EU, EEA or Swiss family member who started living in the UK by 31 December 2020. They can apply to come to the UK at any point. More information on joining family members can be found on GOV.UK.

Using your Digital Status
From 1 July 2021, EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and their family members granted status under the EU Settlement Scheme will need to evidence their rights in the UK with their digital immigration status, rather than their passport or ID card. For example, they may need to do this when applying for a job or when renting a property.
We have published a new guide for EU, EEA and Swiss citizens on viewing and proving their immigration status (eVisa). The guide explains how people can view, prove and share their immigration status, update their details, what they should expect when crossing the UK border and how to get help accessing their immigration status.
It is important that EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and their family members keep their personal details up to date and inform the Home Office if their travel document changes, using the View and Prove service. If you plan to travel from 1 July, you should use this service to ‘add’ any document that you did not use to apply but want to travel with. This will avoid any delays at the border when re-entering the UK.

Time is running out
Over 5 million grants of status have already been made allowing those with status to continue to work, study, and access benefits and free healthcare in the UK after 30 June 2021.
Secure your own existing rights or encourage eligible EU, EEA and Swiss citizens you know living in the UK to apply now online at www.gov.uk/eusettlementscheme
An application to the EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021 secures your existing rights in UK law until you’re granted a status, so we’re urging eligible to people to apply now – don’t delay.
Thank you for your continued support in helping EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and their family members to secure their rights in the UK.
