{"id":1001,"date":"2023-05-12T12:26:28","date_gmt":"2023-05-12T10:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consedimburgo.esteri.it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/stato-civile\/matrimonio-da-celebrarsi-allestero\/"},"modified":"2024-09-25T14:29:43","modified_gmt":"2024-09-25T12:29:43","slug":"matrimonio-da-celebrarsi-allestero","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/consedimburgo.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/stato-civile\/matrimonio-da-celebrarsi-allestero\/","title":{"rendered":"Marriage abroad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Italian citizen getting married abroad does not need to submit any \u2018Marriage banns\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>For those Italians registered with Aire, the Consulate General of Italy in Edinburgh can issue \u201cNulla Osta\u201d or a &#8221;Certificato di Capacit\u00e0 Matrimoniale&#8221; according to the Munich Convention on 05.09.1980 (to download an application form see <a href=\"https:\/\/consedimburgo.esteri.it\/it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/modulistica\/\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Consulate General of Italy can issue such \u201cNulla Osta\u201d or \u201cCertificato di capacit\u00e0 matrimoniale\u201d ONLY for Italian citizens registered Aire with this Office<\/strong>, while for citizens:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>resident in Italy<\/strong>: it shall be the relevant COMUNE<\/li>\n<li><strong>resident in another Country<\/strong>: it shall be the Italian consular Office of registration.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>An Italian citizen getting married abroad should contact:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the Italian Embassy or Consular Office in such Country \u2013 for the purposes of information concerning the documentation required for the registration of the marriage in Italy<\/li>\n<li>the relevant Authorities in that country for all necessary documents related to the marriage. The local Authorities competent for MARRIAGES to be celebrated in SCOTLAND or NORTHERN IRELAND are:\n<ul>\n<li>Scotland: \u2018General Registry Office, Marriage Section<\/li>\n<li>Northern Ireland: NISRA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE<\/strong>: requests for the issue of<strong>\u00a0 \u201cNulla Osta\u201d <\/strong>or<strong> \u201cCertificato di Capacit\u00e0 Matrimoniale\u201d<\/strong> to this Consulate General can <strong>ONLY<\/strong> be submitted by post at the following address:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Registry Office<br \/>\nItalian Consulate General<br \/>\nItaly House<br \/>\n20-22 East London Street<br \/>\nEdinburgh &#8211; EH7 4BQ<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To request a <strong>\u201cNulla Osta\u201d <\/strong>or<strong> \u201cCertificato di Capacit\u00e0 Matrimoniale\u201d<\/strong> you must provide the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Relevant form (see <a href=\"https:\/\/consedimburgo.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/modulistica\/\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>), completed and signed<\/li>\n<li>Copies of valid photo identity documents of both parties<\/li>\n<li>Payment by Postal Order ONLY (do not send cash nor cheques) to \u201cItalian Consulate General\u201d (please write your name at the back of the Postal order).
