Unlike your normal passport or Identity Card,\u00a0an ETD is only valid for 5 days from the date of issue and can only be used to travel to Italy or to the country of residence according to the AIRE registration.<\/p>\n<p>An ETD can be issued only to Italian citizens who are\u00a0<strong>NOT\u00a0<\/strong>registered on AIRE with this Consulate General, but they reside in Italy or in a country other than the United Kingdom. The Italian citizens registered on AIRE cannot therefore apply for an ETD, but they shall apply for a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consedimburgo.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/passaporti-e-carte-didentita\/\"><strong>passport<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0or an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consedimburgo.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/carta-didentita-elettronica-cie\/\"><strong>identity card<\/strong><\/a>, according to the instructions.<\/p>\n<p>You can apply for an Emergency Travel Document in person at the Italian Consulate General in\u00a0Edinburgh Monday to Friday, from\u00a09:30 to 12:30.<\/p>\n<p>In order to facilitate the work of the officers and to avoid lenghty waiting times, the Consulate suggests to get in touch directly with the relevant office and to book an appointment, writing an e-mail to <a href=\"mailto:passaporti.edimburgo@esteri.it\">passaporti.edimburgo@esteri.it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE<\/strong>: Outside opening hours, ETD\u00a0 can be issued only in case of proven emergency. You must report and document your emergency by calling: +44 (0)7713159591<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>E.T.D. for adults (18 yrs +)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Documents to be presented:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Declaration of Loss\/Theft (see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consedimburgo.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/modulistica\/\">Forms<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>2 recent and identical passport photographs, which must meet ICAO rules.
