Recognition of qualifications

Foreign qualifications need to be formally recognized before being accepted in Italy. According to the Lisbon Convention, ratified in Italy by law n. 148 in 2002, foreign High School qualifications and both professional and academic qualifications may be recognized in Italy.
In order to obtain the recognition of foreign qualifications, both Italian and foreign citizens must apply for the Declaration of value to the Italian Embassy or consulate in the same Region where the qualifications have been issued.
The Dichiarazione Di Valore enables foreign qualifications to be accepted in Italy by the Regional School Offices (Uffici Scolastici Regionali), competent for Secondary Education, and by Universities and other public and private administrations and organizations for studying, professional and working purposes and in order to apply for public competitions.
