Certified translations

IMPORTANT: This Consulate DOES NOT MAKE TRANSLATIONS. We strongly advise you to contact a professional translator from the Yellow Pages, on the internet or alternatively please contact one of the of the translators from this list (click HERE). We reserve the right to refuse the certification if the translation is not faithful to the original.

REMEMBER: all translations of certificates to be submitted to this Consulate MUST be certified following the instruction below. Letters of conformity written by the translators are not acceptable as a certification substitute.

The certification of a translation can only be issued upon submission of the original document and for the following categories of documents only:

  • British certificates (with Apostille) for use in Italian public offices
  • Italian certificates for use in British offices

British certificates MUST always be legalized by means of Apostille. It is the applicant’s responsibility to request the legalization by the relevant authorities BEFORE requesting the certification of a translation (see HERE).

PLEASE NOTE: The Apostille DOES NOT require a translation and therefore it does not require a certification

VERY IMPORTANT:

  • this consular office can only certify translations of certificates issued in Italy or in Scotland and Northern Ireland. For certificates issued in other countries and in languages other than English or Italian you shall contact the competent consular office in the country of issue of your certificates;
